CUTE SHIT: The Cult Label

Man, I am on an indie biz finding roll. I have an ever-growing list of companies to fork my non-existent disposable income to. norf.

A couple of weeks ago, fellow blogger HEYNICHOLE began following me on tumblr. I love checking out new followers, and it was while perusing her page that I discovered her company – THE CULTLABEL.

And if you dig edgy, dark fashion – you’ll want to check her out!

I’m in love with these lipstick leggings. So rad.

CUTE SHIT: Drop Dead Clothing

You’ve probably heard of Drop Dead Clothing. I’m probably just way out of the loop on this one. I don’t care. Any dress featuring Donuts In Space warrants a blog post.

As soon as I have a billion+ dollars, I plan on burning my wardrobe. And then burning some of that billion+ dollars because Drop Dead Clothing‘s prices are so reasonable.

Have you heard of Drop Dead? What’s your favorite item?

INSPIRATION: Tye Dye!

When I was a kid, I once went to a 60′s theme birthday party. It was decked out with lava lamps, and pink groovy flower stickers — and as an activity, we all went out in the backyard and made tye dye shirts. I was a bit of a pudgy kid growing up, so the shirt never fit. But I loved it. So it sat unworn in my drawer, quietly coveted. And I’ve never warn a tye dye garment since.

Alright, end of sob story. I think the real reason I never wore any tye dye (apart from that shirt) is because I wasn’t really into it. Bright colors colliding together in seams of mud and brown? Count me out.

But then we started bleaching, dilluting and washing out. Pastels have made me a tye dye fan. And who knows, you may be one too!

Kitchen Envy!

I am in a very envious mood right now. Last week, I happened upon Gina678 on flickr, a fellow cupcake kitchen enthusiast.

LOOKATHERKITCHENN.

Have you ever seen so much glee in one place?

I’m not quite sure yet if this has either encouraged or discouraged me to continue filling my (now sad, pathetic) kitchen with cupcakes. Actually, that’s a lie. Almost immediately after flickr stalking Gina’s kitchen, I ordered these christmas cupcake ornaments, and this cupcake handsoap from fredflare. I couldn’t stop myself!

I’m also now tempted to talk my landlord in letting me paint the kitchen. I’m sure future tenants will appreciate a little turquoise.

Check out more pictures of Gina’s kitchen below.

CUTE SHIT: Fuchsteufelswild, Vegan-Friendly Clothing and Accessories!

I don’t recall how I happened upon German indie company Fuchsteufelswild, but I immediately fell in love. Who wouldn’t? They’re  DIY, Vegan-Friendly and Sweat-Shop-Free!

I am in desperate want of their Veggie Necklace. Spy anything up your alley?

DIY: Learn To Tie A Scarf, A Different Way Every Day!

I never used to be into scarves. Don’t get me wrong – I love a cozy warm winter scarf; it;s the bandanas, and flimsy thin scarves that used to irk me. I like to knit, so my number 1 scarf priority used to be warmth. But that was before I got myself a couple of soft scarves. They’re areally quick and easy way to dress up an outfit, and versatile enough to completely transform outfits past!

So yes, I was a hater. But now, I can’t help myself. In my spare time I find myself youtubing new and creative ways to tie  a scarf so it looks entirely new!

INSPIRATION: Halloween Decor

Frightening Foyer [Link]

Halloween is fast approaching, but I seem to be the only house on my street with pumpkins and ghosts decorating the lawn. When I was a kid, I remember visiting almost all of the houses on the street, all of them decorated with at least a lit pumpkin, or a colored porch light. Walking home from school I used to get so giddy seeing the pumpkins appearing on doorsteps, cobwebs appearing around garages. Its seeing these decorations that probably sparked my need to parade around the house, up and down the hallways in whatever unfortunate costume I had decided to don that year. (Fun fact: As a wee one, I had a kangaroo costume that I absolutely loved and refused to give up. There are pictures of me scrunched into it one Halloween, and it clearly being a costume for a small toddler– barely came to my ankles and wrists. I still remember carrying the removable joey around the house, and my mother tying the floppy-eared hat too tightly under my chin.)

But enough fond childhood memories. The point is, either people don’t have the Halloween spirit like they used to, or y’all are getting lazy. And with this post, I hope to change that. So put on your paint-pants, grab your cobwebs, and let’s spook the house!

CUTE SHIT: Sock It To Me

Sock It to Me is a great indie company I recently discovered, and they specialize in – you guessed it, SOCKS! But not just any sock- AMAZING SOCKS.  They make and sell teh most unique prints, like 3D glasses (above), sushi, manatees, cupcakes, pigs, and even tighty whities!

I’m the proud owner of two pairs myself, the 3D glasses, and the cupcake print.

INSPIRATION: Fashion Rebel

A lot of rebels have gone down in history. Many of the notables are men, like James Dean for instance. But there are a few classy ladies who have gone down in history for taking a stand against the norms of their time. Sure, they probably did it with full hosiery and a skirt on, but I’m sure if a leather jacket had of been available…

Now-adays, the term rebel is reserved for that bad-boy you dated in high school, or those kids that hang out at the gas station with Mohawks defying gravity via a hairdryer and some glue.

I say we make something of the word.

It’s time to rebel.

Get inspired.. [Read more...]
