TRY THIS: Create Your Own Pumpkin Stencil, Online!

Enter Sir Scares A Lot. If you know anything about me, you know I love cheesy flash games and ‘designers’. I also love Halloween. Now I can merge my love of both by creating stencils for my Halloween Jack-O-Lanterns online!

Not only is there a cool selection of traditional andsilly face shapes (like eyes, noses, and mouths), but there is also a free-form carve and scratch tool, so those of you who are artistically inclined can completely design an intricate carving from scratch.

Once completed, you can then share your carving with friends, or print a stencil to re-create your Sir Scares A Lot on a real boy. pumpkin.

Enjoy!

The West Memphis 3 are Free!

I typically don’t blog about such controversial topics, but this story has been near and dear to my heart (for lack of a less over-used and cheesy phrase) since high school when I first watched the Paradise Lost documentaries, which I’ve recommended before, here. Ever since then I’ve been an active follower an supporter of wm3.org. Please also follow them on Twitter.

But today, 18 years after being convicted of the murder of 3 young boys, then just teenagers themselves, Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin, all now in their 30′s, were freed today.

It was a controversial story that garnered loads of attention and support of the defendants, who were convicted on minimal evidence and even coerced into false confessions. Thanks to the support of the wm3.org, their lawyers, and everyone who believed in their inocence, they are finally free men.

I’ve included a quote from CNN, and some more resources, after the cut.

In The Playroom..

I don’t typically feature art or photography on my blog, but when I stumbled across Canadian Photographer Jonathan Hobin’s collection ‘In the Playground’, I just had to share. Each of the images depicts children re-enacting major current events and headlines, each of them slightly jarring while still en-bodying the wholesome innocence of childhood. Some themes include, the 9/11 attacks, the Jon Benet Ramsey trials, and the People’s Temple suicides led by Jim Jones in Jonestown (above).

Rehabilitated Baby Seal Does Cute Things; World Smiles.

It’s Friday so I’m going to take it easy on you. No crazy How To Look Awesome posts, no delicious recipes. But I couldn’t leave you with nothing. So I brought you the latest viral video to hit the web.

No, it isn’t a guy tripping out over nature in the wilderness. No, it isn’t a kid embarrassing himself in-front of a web-cam in his bedroom. and No, it isn’t that song Friday. That is so 6 Fridays ago.

It’s a cute baby seal. Doing cute baby seal things. Like being freed back into the ocean. :3

Enjoy!

Here’s some information about this rescue and others from IWNCC Founder, Jeff Lederman;

Island Wildlife Natural Care Centre on Salt Spring Island, BC has nursed ‘Peewee’, a starving Northern Fur Seal back to health. Watch while this adorable pup makes her joyful dash to freedom on BC’s west coast to join hundreds of others as they journey between Alaska and California. We guarantee you’ll lose your heart to her.

Our non-profit org. saves the lives of hundreds of ‘Peewee’s’ every year. Now it’s easy for you to help make sure they all get their chance to go home again. A generous sponsor will match every dollar donated during our 2011 campaign.

Find our more about the work we do, along with our CanadaHelps / PayPal donate button at www.sealrescue.org and facebook.com/sealrescue.
