This looks complicated, but can be easily achieve using only a few simple tools! Tutorial by Keiko Lynn

This past Friday I attended one of my best friend’s engagement party. Thrown a bit last minute, I as scrambling to find a dress and planb out my make-up and hair to suit her noir theme. (I know right, fun!) So I hunted the inter webs for a perfect hairstyle I could achieve at home with my own two hands, and with minimal hair spray.
AND- It’s long hair friendly! Many period styles from the 40′s and 30′s are hard to find when you’ve got hair shorter than a shoulder-length crop!

As a little girl, many-a Sunday night was spent rolling foam curlers into my sister and I’s hair before school on Sunday. After hunting countless dollar stores over the years, I’ve yet to find the curlers that my sister and I coveted so much in our childhood. And with naturally straight hair, i find curls created from an iron fall limp and flat within hours.
So that’s why when I happened around this new tutorial, I was able to achieve flowing, natural curls overnight without heat, or even countless hours rolling 50 foam clips into my hair. All I needed was a little water, and a couple pairs of socks.

Since I was just a tween playing the Nancy Drew Game, and again with the release of Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette staring Kirsten Dunst (above), I’ve had quite the crush on the romantic and tragic tale of Marie Antoinette. And with such a story and elaborate dress of the time, it’s no wonder why it’s one of the most popular Halloween costumes year after year!
And I’ve found a video tutorial so you may easily execute the hair and make-up to complete your costume! Best of all, the hair tutorial completely removes the need for a starchy, squashed and scratchy wig!

I get it; you guys are craving volume. One of my most frequently asked questions for ‘Ask KKZ’ features is ‘HOW THE HELL DO I TEASE/BACKCOMB/ADD MOTHERFFNG VOLUME TO MY HAIR? And as a thin, flat-haired femme; I feel your pain. It just so happens that I’ve found a great video tutorial to help us achieve some pouff, and get the limp locks off our backs.

I get questions in my inbox every week from readers looking for a tutorial on how to achieve Ke$ha’s signature hairstyle. You know, her, crazy, messy, lazy curls. So if you’ve ever wanted to look as if you got in a fight with a wave at the beach, lucky for you, I’ve finally found the perfect tutorial to achieve you some sloppy curls, and it’s super easy – no fancy tools required! You just need your hair straightener. No joke!

The braids are back! And this time, we’re sharing an easy laid back style that can perfect for semi-casual formal event (think bridal shower, or cocktail wedding), and it’s even suitable for a casual weekend spent at a family bbq, shopping, or at a bistro by the beach. Tutorial, below: [Read more...]
I can do casual hair. I’m a master of beach-y waves, soft curls, and flirty layers. Take me to a formal event, and I essentially just clip in a bow. I find up-dos to be overwhelming. It’s hard to place perfect curls behind your head, y’know?
That’s why, when I stumbled across these super-simple do-it-yourself formal hair tutorials from Martha Stewart, I had to post them. I know there are girls out there dying for a simple, low-maintenance formal style they can execute themselves. So here you go!

Recently, I’ve been trying to remove the purple hair dye out of my locks. I’ve tried several home remedies and tricks I’d learned through the years spent as a dye hard, but I had yet to try the intimidating and daunting, shampoo bleaching.
I’d heard for a while that it can help lift the color of semi-permanent hair dyes (as well as other neat tricks, as posted below) without damaging your hair as much as a full-out bleaching, but I was still a little wary.
But, one day while browsing the local pharmacy, I was feeling bold and sick of my semi-faded hue, so I picked up a packet of bleach..

When I was a little girl, I had this amazing ‘KLUTZ’ brand book that had tons of different ways to braid and style your hair. Apart from the fact that most were tied off with gigantic lime green scrunchies, many of the braids I performed on the heads of my un-suspecting barbies are still popular today.
One style in particular that is getting a big bump in the fashion world is the fishtail braid; mainly for it’s loose, messy, no-fuss look. It’s very girl-next-door-cares-not chic.
