The 27th annual Toronto Vegetarian Food Festival!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to spend the weekend at the beautiful Toronto Harbourfront Centre, stuffing my face with delicious Vegan treats. Every year, the Toronto Vegetarian Association hosts this amazing event, filled with delectable treats to take home, venders serving up hot fresh cusine from their eateries around the city, and animal activists all aroudn the city can meet, eat and relax!

Here are some more photos of the event from the Official Flickr page for the event, as well as some snapshots I took, below..

Chocolate Obsessed with the Organic Oven Bakery!

Yesterday a friend showed up at our door, with a BIG, CHOCOLATEY, SURPRISE.  A couple of weeks back, he had ordered us a cake from The Organic Oven Bakery.

I was a little tentative, as the cake had ‘GLUTEN AND DAIRY FREE’ largely printed on the side of the box. Plus he had ordered it through a local health food store, which I found slightly odd. Nutrition supplements and chocolate cake? Alright, then.

Ask KKZ: Omni Family, Veggie Kid. How To Make the Leap to Living Veggie in a Meat-Eaters World!

Hi Kimmi. I’m 19, and have been living on Residence at my school. I’m packing up to get ready to head back to my parent’s for the Summer, and I’m a little worried about coming out to them as a new Vegetarian, especially since it’s barbeque season and they’re HUGE carnivores.

I’ve been only trying to go Veggie for the past couple months, but it has been really hard on a meal plan. I do have to bend sometimes, but having the opportunity of a full kitchen for the Summer – I want to stand firm with my family and have a 100% Meat-Free Summer.

Even though I haven’t been Veggie for long, it’s been something I’ve thought about for a long time.  Now that I’m trying though, I find myself a overwhelmed. I find myself just omitting things at the Caf, eating burger buns without the patty, just a salad,  eating ALOT of spaghetti and french fries. I want to go Vegan someday soon, but I’m worried if i can’t get my vegetarian diet a little more stable, I won’t be able to do it. Also, if you have any tips for dealing with my parents this Summer, that would be great! lol. I’ve read and bookmarked all your recipes, I can’t wait to try some of them out! - Submitted by Kara.

Sunday Night Out; Ghost Stories Toronto and The Live Food Bar

Sunday Night, the boyfriend and I headed towards down on a long awaited night out. We had purchased tickets to a new show debuting in town, Ghost Stories, to which we were very excited about, but knew little. Afterward we had a quick, late dinner at a neat little Vegan/Raw Toronto Restaurant, The Live Food Bar, for Toronto’s first Veggielicious!
