“..And I’ve learned our love is like a brick – build a house or sink a dead body.”

Wonderful Web Weekend!

Typically I spend my Sundays, wrapped up in six layers of comfy pajamas and yesterday’s make-up. But today ( a Saturday if you’re igloo bound) I woke up, and it just felt like a Sunday.  My hair is dull and lifeless, I’m running soley on coffee and homemade sourdough bread,  and I am wearing slipper boots that clime up past my shins. I look like Sunday.

So, today I am here-by claiming Saturunday!

And what do we typically do on lazy-Saturundays? Well, My Friend, aren’t you in luck! We merely attach our sensory devices to our comput-a-boxes for the entirety of the day, only to surface for snacks, bathroom breaks, and the occasional house fire.

Here’s what I’m up to this Saturunday, and my recommendations to make yours a pleasant one:

What I’m Tumbling

The Grossed-est With the Mostest

Being self employed, I have come to terms with the fact that I no longer have any natural circadian rhythm. If you don’t know what that is- it essentially means my body will no longer let me go to sleep and wake up with the sun…

See The Oatmeal’s ‘Why Working At Home Is Both Awesome and Horrible‘ for more funny, work-from-home cartoons (above). So last night, or morning I guess I should say, I was tumbling to my hearts content – when I stumbled across the greatest-ever website to bite boredom;

Horror Movie Date-Night!

On Holiday Monday, me and the boyfriend headed to the theatre to check out the latest independent shaky-cam horror flick, The Last Exorcism. It is while cowering under my yellow hoodie during the scary parts, that I thought up the best idea for one o’ my blogs; My definitive lis of creepy, gory suspenseful flicks that result in maximum cuddles. I.e – My Top Horror Movies for Date Nights!

1. Paranormal Activity.

This is my number 1 pick for horror movie date nights. This independant horror movie only cost $11000 to make, and thusly it’s set in only a couple of rooms. But this movie from beginning to end is nothing but suspense, and what you don’t see, is what terrifies you.

2. The Ring.

I saw this movie in theatres Halloween night the year it opened, and I haven’t watched the movie since. Creepy little girls with hair in their faces is quite probably the scariest schtick in existance. I saw this movie when I was like 12. Now, ten years later, the idea of watching it again still gives me the willies. It’s scary.

3. Saw I, or III.

Saw I is an original horror flick, and if you can look past the bad acting of the guy that was in Princess Bride, you’ll definitely enjoy the film. If you’re looking to just gross the pants of your date, I’d put on the third one. If you want to be a really jerk, just fastforward to the pig carcass scene. It almost made me walk out of the theatre.

4. Cloverfield

An original take on a sort of sci-fi godzilla film. This movie was so unique, that I, a girl who doesn’t  like colossal monster movies, count it as one of my favorite films. The special effects in this film are on, and the shaky-handheld cam really brings you along for the ride. This would be a great film to watch in one of those moving theatres.

5. Poltergeist.

For a movie released in 1982, the effects in this movie are still pretty awesome. This is a horror movie with a bit o’ depth. The characters have time to interact, and relate in their home before all of the crazy shit goes down, making it entertaining than the typical horror movies today, which greatly sacrifices plot for scares. And- oddly enough, more cast and crew died than characters in the film. 4-0.

6. Psycho.

Your date will be impressed when you throw on a Hitchcock film. Please don’t put on the remake; there is just something about Vince Vaughn that makes the film more annoying than necessary, and the remake didn’t change the film at all, they just changed the cast and added color. Although not too scary by todays standards, Psycho is a horror movie that everyone should watch at least once. If your feeling inspired, you could have a Hitchcock movie night, and throw in Rear Window, Vertigo, or The Birds.

Adventures in Tea Leaf Reading.

Last night me an the boy decided to try our hand at tea reading! I’d always wanted to try it, and after seeing Coraline a few months ago – I had convinced myself to try it. I don’t really believe in psychics or tarot cards, but I own a couple of decks and like to pull them out and play with them from time to time. I just think it’s interesting.

I took step-by-step photos so you can see what our teacups said, and play along at home. I’ve also created a basic chart at the bottom of this post of some common shapes that occur so you can read your own cup! Be sure to comment and let me know how your reading went!
