Craft Tutorial Round’Up!

- Simply Vintage Girl

It’s official. Due to repeated issues with our neighbours upstairs, we’ve decided to move out of our apartment, after only 6 months of living there. It sucks to have to pack up all of our things and move again, but we were very lucky and found a cute little place just  minutes away. We’ve set a date for only a month away, and we’ve been scrounging to organize boxes an whatnot. It’ll be a chore to even find the time to pack our things, but I know we’ll get it all done.

And because I’ve had moving on my mind, I’ve also been dreaming up crafty projects to create out on the grass this summer of our new backyard. Yeah, we totally scored a backyard.

So, I’m going to share with you a few of the great tutorials I’ve bookmarked over the past few months. So, I’m a craft hoarder, sue me.

Enjoy! [Read more...]

DIY: Simple Pastel Frames Created Using Paint + Mod Podge

We’ve been in the apartment for several months now. Most of the apartment has been decorated with my touches; I boufght several yards of really sweet movie monster and junk food fabrics for the living room, which I sewed into throw pillows, decorated lamps and stretched over wall canvases.  The kitchen, I created flowers out of cupcake fabric, created some cupcake panels, and pinned several giant cupcakes (intended to be used as felt place mats) to the walls.

But I hadn’t found the time to add anything to spruce up the office, which is a really small space, with a low ceiling and no windows. I scored an awesome L-Shaped desk, that had tons of space so I could multitask with both of my laptops and still have room to package and process orders. But apart from a few mannequin heads and display boards, the room was dull and white.

So i decided to created some murals out of regular old 8′ x 10′ picture frames. I picked up 6 frames in 3 different frame designs. I scored them at the dollar store, so they were a great cheap find!

Junk Food Herb Garden

Who said herbs have to be in healthy containers? On the weekend me and the boy decided to start working on the teracotta pots for the indoor herb garden we plan to start once we get more daylight shinin’ in the kitchen. We picked up 6 medium-sized pots at the store, and they only cost us about $12, including the drainage plates (score!).

We decided to do paint them a mix of cute cupcakes, and diner junk-food, as that’s the mismatched theme of our kitchen. We have giant cupcakes on the wall, cupcake cookies jars, and various diner memorabilia scattered all across the kitchen ( a menu, red and yello ketchup squeezers, tin signs, etc.) .

So, As promised, I got around to uploading the pictures…

MmmMagnets!

This Sunday was kind of a relax day, so I decided to pull out my polymer clay and make some cute food fridge magnets! Oddly enough while me and the boy watched ALIVE, that movie about that rugby team who’s plane crashed and they all went cannibal…
