TRY THIS: The Softened Cat Eye

I’m sure you’ve already busted out the liquid eyeliner to achieve a retro, winged liner. But we’ve got a new take on an old classic. Why not soften the line by smudging and blending the edges? The result is an edgy and feminine finish, perfect for night or day! We recommend using gel eyeliner in combination with a traditional pencil for a lasting effect. Use a tapering brush along the edges to soften lightly.

TRY THIS: Mermaid Nails!

Check out this amazing tutorial for mermaid nails! What a gorgeous shade of sea-foam!

TRY THIS: Colored Liner

Why not skip the black and add a punch of color? Use a liquid liner in your preferred hue to achieve a clean line, and a dramatic, fun effect!

I like my hair today.

Sometimes I get lucky enough and my hair does that not-combed, halfway-dreaded thing I like. My secret? Night showers! Immediately after towel drying, I braid my hair into two loose french braids and allow to dry overnight. In the morning I have natural looking, all-day beachy volume.

Do you have a signature style for lazy days?

TRY THIS: Ice Cream Nails!

This Summer, why not take the Pastel nail trend to the extreme by giving yourself a dripping ice cream sundae manicure! A base coat of Vanilla, some gooey strawberry sauce, and sprinkles! Try alternating by doing chocolate fudge, mint chocolate chip, or even cookie dough! More inspiration, below. [Read more...]

LOOK: My Hair Cares Not

I’m in the process of fading my hair dye. People who dye their hair frequently with vegetable semi-permanent dyes will be very familiar with this process. I’m trying to do a color oerhaul for the summer, but having dyed my over-processed hair Purple several times, it takes some serious TLC (in the form of home-remedies to remove hair dye), to get my hair faded enough to dye over. So needless to say, I am kind of over my hair at this point.

I have silver spots, I have pink spots, I have lavender spots, I have green streaks. I’m a mess.

So this is what I do with my hair when it’s a hot mess. Answer = Not much.

I was also testing out a a new CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain I purchased not to long ago. I’ll have a review up shortly.

LOOK: The Fishtail Braid

When I was a little girl, I had this amazing ‘KLUTZ’ brand book that had tons of different ways to braid and style your hair. Apart from the fact that most were tied off with gigantic lime green scrunchies, many of the braids I performed on the heads of my un-suspecting barbies are still popular today.

One style in particular that is getting a big bump in the fashion world is the fishtail braid; mainly for it’s loose, messy, no-fuss look. It’s very girl-next-door-cares-not chic.

LOOK: Let the Lips Do the Talkin’

It’s early April. It’s not quite Winter, it’s not quite Spring. For the first time in several months, i don’t look out my window onto sludgy, grey snow. But I also don’t see much green when I look out my window. Plus, this inbetween weather makes putting on sweaters and outerwear a difficult chore. When the sun’s out, you can rock a dandy cardigan – but if it’s not, you better have your winter coat nearby, scarf and all.

The same goes for when I’m trying to work a make-up look. I want something simple, but still edgy that reflects me, and will last all day; no matter if its cold, sunny, dry, or wet out. I don’t want to have to keep checking it to make sure it’s where I applied it that morning.

LOOK: Thrifty Sunday.

For the past little while I’ve been needing a crafting fix, so this weekend the Boyfriend and I trekked out to a few local second-hand shops to look for old furniture and frames that I could re-purpose.  Although I didn’t find any sweet re-crafting materials, I did nag a super-cute ‘Pickles 5 cents’ sign, and an un-opened copy of 13 Dead End Drive, one of my favourite board games as a kid.

It also happened to be the first bright n’ sunny day we’d seen for a long time, which left me feeling inspired while putting my make-up on by the window. Hooray for natural light!

Here are a couple shots of my hair and make-up (Links and products used below):

LOOK: Weekend Hair!

I spent most of this weekend out-and-about doing errands, so I threw my hair into a no-fuss hairstyle that ended up turning out pretty adorable! I used recently made myself 2 thin hair braid headbands on turquoise (that we just made available at the UvKITTY boutique and the UvKITTY Etsy Store) and I wanted to try them out with my current color.
