Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in 400, Temptress.
The Price:
I picked this lipstick up at my Grocery store with a $2.00 off coupon (always buy big-name-drugstore-brands at grocery stores, the prices are way better), and ended up only paying $7.00, it retails for around $10 here in Canada.
The Claim:
Bright, gorgeous color that can transform your day and your lips. Enriched with Silk Therapy Complex, our formula helps sustain moisture levels and helps create soft, smooth, beautiful lips in just 7 days.*
The Packaging:
I really like the packaging. The neat color block at the bottom is great when you own several of the product in different shades, though I wish the blocks on the bottom would be more color accurate to the lipstick.
It looks as though Covergirl is working on a re-brand, as all of the lipsticks coming out now are in sleek, neutralized metallic tubes with minimal text.
The Formula/Application:
Firstly, I do say, researching this lipstick was nearly impossible on the internet, as the color swatches on EVERY website I checked out were completely different. Both the Canadian and US versions have completely different takes on the 400 – Temptress that I picked up at my store. .CA shows a fuchsia-based pink, .COM shows a light, nude pink – when in fact, I picked up 400 Temptress because it’s a bright coral-infused pink.
Other than the swatch-confusion, I really like this lipstick. It’s soft and smooth, glides on easily, the color is consistent and well pigmented, and it it really moisturizing, almost as much so a balm.
I wouldn’t recommend this product for it’s staying power, however. Because it’s so creamy, I found myself re-applying and daubing off several times throughout daily wear. It’s a bit of a nuisance for a girl who doesn’t usually carry a mirror in her pocket. I prefer to do my make-up in the morning, and then be done with it.
The Result:
I’m pretty satisfied. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. If you want a creamy, moisturizing lipstick with good slip and application, you are going to have to sacrifice all-day wear, without breaking the bank.
I might just have to pick up another one, to give it a whirl in a different shade. I’ll definitely be browsing in-store though, because the color swatches on the websites are abysmal.
